Celebrate America with this July 4th inspired fruit pie.

Updated: Jul 7, 2020

What's more patriotic than an American flag fruit pizza pie?

Well, maybe the song “God Bless the USA” by Lee Greenwood. I'm going to imagine that playing while taking a bite of this yummy treat.

This is another recipe that my MIL introduced me to. It's a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth without feeling weighed down by a heavy dessert.

It's also really fun to switch up the design with different colored fruits, so it's the perfect DIY with kids. You can even do individual cookie-sized pies and let kids go wild.

I hope you get to try this one out for a BBQ this year. Tag me on instagram if you do!

July 4th Fruit Pizza Pie for a crowd

Ingredients:

Sugar Cookie Crust:

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar

  • 2 1/2 cups flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoons salt

  • 1 cup butter, softened

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 2 large eggs

Cream Cheese Frosting:

*NOTE: If you don't need to pipe frosting onto your pie as part of your chosen decoration, then half these ingredients for the cream cheese frosting. You'll have enough to cover the pie in a nice healthy layer of frosting with half the recipe. I used the recipe below because half went as my base layer and I used the other half to make decorations with on the pie.*

  • 24 ounces cream cheese, softened

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened

  • 2 teaspoon vanilla

  • 2 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Fruit Topping:

*NOTE: Use whatever fruit your heart desires to match your decoration.*

  • 3 packs of Raspberries

  • 1 pack of Blueberries

Instructions:

  1. First mix your wet ingredients that include the softened butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla until well combined.

  2. Add your dry ingredients to the wet which include your flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until combined.

  3. Scoop dough into a log or a ball. Chill your dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

  4. While your dough is chilling. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

  5. Grease a 14-inch pizza pan or round baking stone.

  6. Roll the chilled dough out onto the pan or stone. Allow it to rest for a couple minutes.

  7. Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes or less if you start to see browned edges.

  8. While the cookie crust is baking, use an electric mixer, and combine the room temperature cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth and creamy.

  9. Allow the cookie crust to cool for about 30 minutes or till cool to the touch.

  10. Spread half of the frosting over the cooled cookie crust and the other half can be used for piping.

  11. Chill again for 30 minutes to firm up.

  12. Top with fruit!
